This is not your daughter’s trend! Don’t get me wrong, the younger generation will embrace this trend too but I actually think the choker brings a lot of sophistication to a look. It is the go-to necklace option when nothing else seems to work, it is versatile in terms of what you can wear it with and it can be layered with any other necklace you have. I am showing three ways in which to style the choker—–dressy, date night & casual.
Dressy
I just wore this to my community’s annual home tour and I plan to wear this to my nephew’s graduation. I shopped my closet for most of this look pulling out a pair of navy stilt pants and structured off-white leather top. It needed a couple of accessories to update the outfit and these perforated white booties and double strand navy choker did the trick. I otherwise would not have worn a necklace and would have felt like something was missing. This is also the perfect example of how an on-trend accessory can add some edge and update your wardrobe’s key staple pieces.
Date night
Whenever I have a “I have nothing to wear in a closet full of clothes” meltdown before going out at night, the solution is to throw on a white t-shirt and blazer and go from there! It is a blank canvas that allows you to play around with accessories. For this date night outfit, I took a short brown suede choker and layered it with a longer one. There are small details on each piece that I just love! Again, the white perforated booties work here as well as a fun fringe or structured clutch.
Casual
My daily uniform! A white t-shirt or tank and distressed denim. I love bringing out dainty gold jewelry to wear in the spring and summer so this is the perfect double choker to go with these accessories. With a neckline like this, any other necklace would be hard to pull off but I love how these two pieces go together so well!
Notice that none of these looks had a stretchy lace or studded dog collar choker! They all can work so well into anyone’s style or wardrobe. Alixandra Collections has a great collection in store and on-line and are available here. All gold accessories available at their stores as well.
