This is not the first time I have featured a navy blue blazer! After all, it is a wardrobe classic! I have practically lived in this longer version for the past few years! However, I recently fell in love with this shorter style and knew that I could wear it in so many different ways!
Outside of my longer version, it took me a while to find a shorter style navy blazer that did not make me feel like I was wearing a suit jacket. For instance, the length of this blazer is in that perfect sweet spot. It sits right at the hips. Not too short and not too long it evokes a smart casual look. It is slim fitting but still perfect for layering a light sweater or sweatshirt underneath. I am between a size 4 and size 6 but opted for the 6. I also like the fact that the buttons are monochromatic with the rest of the blazer. Gold buttons would put a different spin on this and not make it nearly as versatile.
How To Style A Navy Blazer
A navy blue blazer is a good idea all year long but I find it an especially useful piece during those transitional seasons! A great go-to uniform right now: wear a navy blazer layered with a button-down or tee; pair it with blue jeans or denim shorts; add ballet flats or leather sandals and a leather belt, and you have a transitional look that never goes out of style.
Lately, though, I have been trying to get a little more creative with my classic pieces. And in doing so, thinking on how to put a fresh spin on those pieces, especially within the framework of a capsule wardrobe. So I thought I would put together a mood board of other ways to best utilize and style this classic wardrobe staple.

Outfit 1
Perhaps my current favorite combo, I have been looking for more ways to incorporate my cowboy boots into an everyday look. If you own a pair, wear them with a navy blue blazer for an everyday classic look with a twist. Layer the blazer with a grey or graphic sweatshirt (a hooded one would work beautifully too) and add a statement necklace.
Outfit 2
I love juxtaposing structured and feminine pieces. Add a lace blouse underneath a navy blazer and break out your gold strappy sandals. As a result, a great date night or lunch in the city look!
Outfit 3
A blazer with jeans always works but I also want to wear it with other pants. Slim dress pants or palazzo pants paired with a silk cami and a navy blazer worn or draped over the shoulders, might be considered business attire but add a colorful street style sneaker and you are good to go!
Outfit 4
Take a summer style t-shirt dress or a mid-length cashmere one and drape a navy blazer over it to elevate your staple pieces. Similarly, add street-style sneakers. A belt bag would be fun with this look too!
