1. Winnetka Music Festival.
I almost want to take “Winnetka” out of the name of this because it seems like I am promoting a small summer block party in the neighboring town. That could not be further from the truth! I recently attended a breakfast hosted by Val Haller, CEO/Founder of Valslist Music, and co-producer and exclusive music curator of this festival. I was blown away by her story. Val, a music obsessed baby boomer, started her music website, Valslist.com, seven years ago with the intention of keeping busy adults up to speed with the latest on the music scene.
Her brand from there took off into a myriad of directions. Val interviews bands, does press at music festivals, started a music club for adults, hosts house concerts in her home, took 30 adults to Lollapalooza, and launched a mobile app ValslistRadio (Valslist playlists for your phone). She has been recognized by the likes of Oprah and vetted by music industry legends such as Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour. Did I mention she is 62?
And now Val is behind the successful and ever expanding boutique festival known as the mini Lollapalooza located in the village of Winnetka. Entering its third year, the Winnetka Music Festival taking place June 21 and 22, is once again bringing in the top emerging music talent to play on live stage. With two main stages, six food trucks, over a dozen tented vendors, craft beer, wine and spirits, this is a great way to kick off summer with family or friends! For more information including ticket purchasing head to Winnetka Music Festival. Finally, I am excited to share with you a discount code for 20% off of VIP tickets with code: VALSLIST at checkout.
2.Noken App.
For those of you who love to travel but don’t love to plan, this might be an App worth downloading. Based off a few very popular destinations (with more countries to choose from on its way), this App literally plans your entire travel itinerary for you in three simple steps. You put in your location, budget, dates, and choose from a list of hotels, activities and transportation and they do the rest! Hours of planning and research are taken care of for you seamlessly!
3. Nashville Travel Companions.
I just got back from Nashville (post coming soon!). So I wanted to share two items I used all weekend long! First, this hat! It is perfect for summer, travel and summer travel! Lightweight, comfortable and easy to add to a suitcase, I did not take it off! It comes in a neutral color too. Second, is this backpack from Gaston Luga. Made from the lightest canvas and so comfortable to carry, the Swedes know a thing or two about design! There are other colors and styles to choose from. And because I love this bag so much, I have a discount code to give you! Use code: neverwithoutnavy for 15 percent off your order!
4.Warm White Bean Salad with Arugula Pesto and Preserved Lemon.
I have been eating this salad all month long. SO simple to make, it is perfect for lunch or to serve as an entree salad at dinner. It would be so good with grilled shrimp or chicken on top. The recipe is from Melissa Clark’s Dinner cookbook but you also can find it here (scroll down and to the left!)
5. A Tree in the House.
I cannot wait to get my hands on all the flowers this summer at my local Farmer’s Market. And for plenty of simple floralscape inspiration, I am turning to this latest book I recently picked up! It is filled with non complicated ideas to fill your home with beautiful arrangements!
