Summer Whites Checklist

 

When summer comes around, or rather when Memorial Day lands, it is time to “officially” pull out the summer whites. Next to navy, there is no other color I love wearing as much as white! I do wear it all year long but of course wear it the most during these summer months. And there is a reason white is so popular this time of year! In addition to showing off our golden glow, summer whites keep us effortlessly cool and immaculately crisp!

Summer whites are that one wardrobe item that probably needs the biggest refresh each season though. Especially when it comes to those basics! Even with the best care, summer whites can easily become dingy and can lose their brilliance. So if you are need for some fresh whites or want to add a few more items into your closet, I am rounding up my essential summer whites checklist!

Linen Tops:

Natural fabrics breathe the best and that is a why linen is a summer fabric standout. It does a nice job of wicking away moisture from the skin keeping your body cool. Besides, linen is just effortlessly chic and always in style. Pair linen tops with denim shorts, white jeans and flowy skirts!

Dresses:

There is nothing like slipping into a white summer dress. It is the quintessential summer piece! I love to wear variations in style throughout the summer. A midi length to wear with wrap sandals and street style sneakers; a tee-shirt style for everyday wear paired with converse sneakers; and a tunic piece for throwing over swimsuits, tucked into denim shorts or on its own with sandals.

Basics:

My favorite items to line my closet shelves and drawers with! I am always on the hunt for good basics but also continuously go back to my tried and trues! In case you missed last week’s post, I introduced a new line I am loving, Mott + Bow. Their tees just fit the way a basic tee should! For tanks, Splendid will always have a place in my wardrobe. I love the thicker cotton structure, wider tank straps for covering your bra and the overall superb quality. They hold their shape and color for years!

Denim:

It is the hardest item to fall in love with in my opinion! White denim is tricky. The material needs to be lightweight but still hold you in. Stretchy but not too stretchy or it will pucker and pull in all the wrong places. I found my perfect pair two years ago which sadly are no longer made. Cue up these pair from Good American though that I tried on a couple of month ago and they passed my test for a flattering fit!

Knits:

A white summer knit can be added over anything! Throw it on with denim shorts, white jeans, a maxi dress or over a swimsuit. The sloppier the better! Summer knits are the one item I cannot ever have enough of!

Sandals:

I have already shared that I bought my first pair ever of Birkenstocks in white for this season. And pedicure pending, I also love wearing a white strappy sandal in the summer too. I like that a white strappy sandal exposes the skin on your foot for a more slimming look. It also breaks up the white monotony if you are wearing white denim on the bottom. Sandals with a square toe are really popular right now and the pair I linked here is on sale right now!

Sneakers:

Of course I am going to round up this post with my favorite sneakers for summer! (If you missed my post last week here, I rounded up all my favorite sneakers for all seasons!) Every summer I take out or replace my Converse Shoreline sneakers. I love that these have a a stretchy back for easy slip on and off. Plus these Converse sneakers have much better support then the traditional ones. I throw these on to wear with cutoffs, t-shirt dresses, and anytime I head out on a bike ride or to the boat!
