#cetaphil
Ever since I can remember, I have been using Cetaphil as my facial cleanser. Growing up, I spent my fair share of time at the dermatologist’s office. I was prone to acne with combined dry/oily skin. My dermatologist recommended Cetaphil to use as my daily cleanser. It is after all, one of the number one recommended dermatologist brands. Yet, I recently discovered that Cetaphil was no longer providing what I wanted in a facial cleanser. Instead, I have turned to a clean beauty cleanser, and I could not be happier with the results!
You might recall that I recently wrote about my desire to switch over to clean beauty products (post here). Yet at the time, I really never thought that my beloved Cetaphil was a product I could let go of. After all, it has served me well all these years! By well, I mean it did it’s job of stemming breakouts, was gentle on my skin and left my face feeling clean without drying it out. Good enough right? I soon learned wrong.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you might have seen my recent visit to Credo Beauty’s newest location in Chicago up on my Instagram stories. For those who didn’t catch the story, Credo Beauty is a clean beauty shopping destination! Think Blue Mercury but with all clean beauty products! When there, I was treated to a mini-facial while being introduced to some new products and lines (Before moving forward, I want to note the Credo Beauty is not sponsoring this post and all opinions are my own). I met with Marisa when there (a dream!). She listened to my skin care needs and my skin complaints and then came up with a plan of products to use for my mini-facial.
We started off using this gentle foaming cleanser followed by this exfoliator. During both processes, warm clean towels were used in circular motions to cleanse my face. Afterwards, a series of oils and serums were used from the product line Marie Veronique, specifically this one and this one. My face was finished off with this daily moisturizer and this eye cream. To say my skin has never felt or looked better in years would be an understatement!
So why did I not buy everything then and there? For starters, I wanted to see how my skin would feel and react throughout the day. In addition, I walked away with a bag full of sample products to try at home and I wanted to play around with some other products before making an investment.

It was almost by default that I fell upon the Pai cleanser. The day after my visit to Credo, I was heading out of town for the weekend. Packing my toiletry bag, I decided to throw in some of the sample products Credo gave me with this Camellia and Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser from Pai being one of them! (actual product size shown and available here)
The first time I used this product and this product alone, I immediately felt a difference. Not only did my feel clean but it left my skin feeling good. For so long, Cetaphil has cleansed my skin but it has also stripped my skin, leaving it with a dull feeling. I realized that after finally using a different cleanser. My face feels supple and healthy. Never before has a product been such an eye opener as to what a cleanser should be doing for you.
The Pai cleanser comes with a two sided muslin cleansing cloth. One side for gentle cleansing and one side for exfoliating. Generally, I use the exfoliating side at night and the gentle side in the morning. Afterwards, I continue with the rest of my skin care regiment.

What I have learned is that the heavily dermatologist recommended gentle daily cleanser I have used practically my whole life, no longer works for me. Instead, I have discovered a product that not only cleanses my skin but leaves it feeling and looking good. Maybe most importantly though, Pai cleanser is also a clean beauty product. There is no alcohol (so drying!), no formaldehyde (so gross!) or parabens (hormone disrupter!) found in this product. Instead Pai is bursting with Omega 3 & Vitamins A, B, & E.
If you are currently using a drugstore brand cleanser, I encourage you to explore other options and give a clean beauty cleanser a try!
