Fun Ways to Wrap Gifts for Christmas
I FINALLY bought my first Christmas gift this week. Why do I pretend that I am going to get all my holiday shopping done on Black Friday when in reality I only shop for myself? Regardless, I feel so much better knowing that the first gift to wrap this season is on its way. By next week, my shopping, fingers crossed, should be done and the gift wrapping should be fully underway!
While I might be dragging my feet with the gift buying, I actually bought my wrapping paper for the season back in November! I love walking into the Container Store to shop all the patterned paper. It is such a great place to find inspiration and get gift wrapping ideas. It truly is a one stop shop for all your gift wrapping needs.
Beyond stocking up at the Container Store though, they are other fun ways to wrap your gifts. Creative gift wrapping is almost an art form but it does not need to be complicated (meaning I am not getting out a hot glue gun!). Often the simplest wrapped gifts can end up being the prettiest presentations.
Fun Ways to Wrap with Paper
Other than pretty patterned wrapping paper, wrapping gifts with butcher paper, brown kraft paper or even sheet music provide opportunities for beautiful gift presentation. I also find that wrapping those awkwardly shaped items in gift tissue paper tied with a beautiful bow looks more thoughtful and appropriately styled then placing it into a gift bag.

Fun Ways to Wrap with Gift Tags
In terms of a gift tag, an alternative is to use a heavy paper card stock. Head to you local art store and stock up on beautiful seasonal colors or jewel tones. Cut up the card stock into gift tag size rectangles and hole punch a hole into it to easily tie on with a ribbon. It adds a personal and elevated look to your gift wrapping! Card stock can absolutely include card board too! Finally, how creative is it to use these manila retail tags as gift tags?

Fun Ways to Wrap with Fresh Greenery
You know by now how much I love to incorporate fresh greenery in just about everything! That could not be more true when it comes to gift wrapping! Eucalyptus greens and eucalyptus leaves are my personal favorites to use. They dry beautifully and they smell heavenly. Of course, fresh greenery from a Christmas tree is another festive option. Just add ribbon around your gift box and insert the greenery on top tied within the bow. An alternative to going out and getting fresh greenery is using candy canes as a gift wrapping add-on. I especially love the deep red vintage ones like these. Of course fun ornaments are a great idea as an add on too!
Fun Ways to Wrap Small Gifts
If you missed my post on unique ways to wrap hostess gifts then head here. On this post, I share a creative gift wrapping idea perfect for smaller gifts. I really love the idea of using linens, especially vintage ones, which work so well for smaller gifts as well as those awkwardly shaped gifts. Adding a velvet bow or baker’s twine makes for beautiful and personal gift presentation.
Fun Ways to Wrap Gifts Checklist
Besides incorporating fun ways to wrap gifts, I try to keep the act of gift wrapping fun as well! Being organized ahead of time helps.
Here is a list of supplies to have on hand:
- Variety of wrapping paper-patterned paper, butcher paper, brown craft paper, sheet music
- Gift tags
- Tissue paper
- Ribbon
- Gift boxes
- Fresh greenery
- Candy canes

I try not to wait to last minute to tackle it all. Instead set aside a part of your day or evening, grab a glass of champagne, put on your favorite holiday movie and enjoy making your gifts beautiful.
