1. Manitowish Waters.

It’s been years since I was last up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.  I spent many childhood summers on Lake Minoqua. Twenty years later, I found myself back there with my own family. This time in Manitowish Waters. The tranquility of the lakes, pine trees and crisp air in this corner of Wisconsin, truly relaxes and rejuvenates the mind and body. And summer is not the only time to go. It would make for an idyllic fall getaway as well. With seventeen miles of bike trails; fishing; cozy supper clubs; spectacular fall colors and best of all, the harvesting of cranberries, I am aching to get back.

2. Roasted Beet Salad 

Beets are still very much in season with harvests through late fall. This is a simply made salad  that delivers a beautiful presentation. You can substitute vegan cheese for feta or goat.

I bought these shoes on the first day of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and they sold out in a day. They are now back in stock and so perfect for fall! The quality and feel makes them seem much more expensive then they actually are.

5. Hotel Republic San Diego.

So my son and I started a tradition a couple of years back where each summer he gets to choose the baseball park of his choice to visit in the summer. Two rules: It is just him and I and it is just for 48 hours. This year he chose San Diego. I am no stranger to the state of California, yet never once have I been to San Diego. This city had me at hello! At my hotel in just ten minutes from the airport. Yes! Some of the most beautiful beaches on the coast. Yes! Weather that equals absolute perfection. Yes! Little Italy, historic harbor, gorgeous ball park and one of the cutest hotels I have ever stayed at!
