Does anyone else feel like these entire past couple of weeks have been put on pause? Between the election and the glorious weather we have been experiencing in the Midwest, I feel like everything in our life has been on hold. I know things have also been quiet here on the blog! But alas, the holiday season is upon us and I am looking forward to wrapping up (lol!) my 2020 content with all the things festive and cheerful!
To get the season underway on Never Without Navy, I added a HOLIDAY tab at the top of my navigation bar on my home page. Here you will find all my holiday content from past seasons broken down into several categories:
Moving forward, I will be adding more content to all of these categories! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy perusing some of these past holiday posts. I certainly know it has helped me get into the holiday spirit!
As I get organized for the holidays, I am referring back to some notes I jotted down at the end of last season. Notes on things that I wanted to do better or more timely in future holiday planning! So in an effort to stay on top of things, I put together a Holiday Season Check List. You can find the downloadable version here Holiday Check List Download
Holiday Season Checklist
As much joy there is during the holiday season, it is also filled with lots of stress because there is always just so much to do. However, when I look at this list it establishes a pace for the season. And voila! It seems a little less daunting and a little more exciting!
Holiday Pajamas
The one thing I put in all bold caps in last year’s notes was buy holiday pajamas for the family early on. Selections and sizes sell out fast. Target, Old Navy, J. Crew and Abercrombie are great places to start.
Christmas Cards
Truth be told, our holiday card picture will not be taken until next week! But the turnaround will be fast and I will immediately order our holiday cards. Minted is currently running a few specials on cards right now. Vistaprint is also hosting some specials. I am really liking their offerings this season! Oh, and if you are in the same position as me with your holiday photos yet to be done, remember I have a post on What to Wear for Family Photos here.
Menu Planning
One of my favorite things to do during the holidays is menu planning. If you are in need of a little inspiration or guidance, I am sharing my Thanksgiving menu with you here
Create Gift Lists
Write down everyone you need to shop for and start gathering ideas! I will be creating this season’s gift guides starting next week but in the meantime head here for some ideas!
Holiday Greenery
Every season we get fresh holiday greenery, including our tree. However, I am very tempted to additionally purchase this flocked tree on sale too! For our wreaths, Trader Joe’s hands down has the best pricing on boxwood wreaths. For our holiday planters we locally use Seasons 440. And for interior holiday installations such as our dining room table centerpiece and fireplace mantle, I use the highly talented Kirbey of the Flower House.
Holiday Candles
Is there anything that puts you more in the holiday spirit then the nostalgic scent of your favorite holiday candles? I love refreshing my stock each season. For some of my favorites, head here.
Holiday Baking
There is nothing that makes me happier then pulling out our holiday baking recipes! I plan to stock up early on all things baking: flour, butter, sugar, vanilla. If you also pack up and deliver your baked goods, stock up on supplies here and here. For a look at some of our cookie traditions, head here and here.
Holiday Wrapping
Oh the joy it brings me to walk into the Container Store and stock up on holiday wrapping supplies. In addition though, I have been perusing Etsy for some more unique finds. In need of holiday ribbon? There is a great selection of colors here and here. I rounded up some other fun ways to wrap gifts in this post here.
Setting time aside each week to myself to get the holiday wrapping done, has turned into my own favorite holiday tradition. I put on a holiday movie, pour myself a glass of champagne and tackle the task!
If there is anything you are wanting to see on Never Without Navy this holiday season, send me a message. I would love to hear from you!
